All Batteries

Each time you disconnect any battery, take a cotton bud or tissue and wipe in and around the screw connection to the clearomiser and in the screw thread, both the internal and external threads.  The thread of the connections form part of the electrical circuit which powers the batteries, so any build up of e-liquid or dust may hamper effective operation and can reduce the power output.

All batteries can be wiped clean with a slightly damp cloth.  Don't immerse them in water [they're not partial to a bath] and avoid contact with all liquids.  Don't drop them [if you can avoid it - unless you happen to be clumsy like me - then try to limit the number of times you drop it]. Keep the connections free of dust and icky stuff.

Avoid carrying your e-cig in side or rear pockets; they'd don't like being sat on and it can weaken, bend, damage or break the connection between the clearomiser and the battery. The resulting damage to the connection will shorten the lifespan of the battery and/or clearomiser.

When you're not using your e-cig or will be storing it in handbags, briefcases or luggage, make sure that you lock off the battery to avoid accidental discharge, the possibility of a flat battery just when you don't need it or burning out the battery and/or clearomiser.

IMPORTANT BITS ABOUT BATTERIES
  • Make sure that you connect the USB charger cable to your computer, wall plug or car charger adaptor before you screw the battery into the charger.  The charger needs to be connected to power to assess the condition of the battery and to commence charging correctly.  It the led light on the charger cable head does not change colour when you screw in the battery, disconnect the charger from the power supply, unscrew the battery from the charger cable and start again from the top.
  • The suggested lifespan of a battery is 350 recharges [my original battery was 2 years old in November 2013 - pretty sure I've passed that number of recharges]
  • Variable volt batteries like to be set to maximum voltage (4.8v) before charging.  It helps ensure the battery charges fully and will assist in maintaining a good battery life.
  • As the capacity [mAh] of the battery increases, the longer it will take to charge/re-charge.
  • A green light showing on your USB Charger will tell you it's ready to go again.

H2 Clearomisers

H2 clearomiser parts breakdownH2 parts breakdown
The H2 clearomisers don't really require cleaning and it's usually not recommended.  It's felt that with the bottom coil available as a replacement unit, it's really unnecessary to attempt cleaning.

Having said that, some people prefer to clean them when they change flavours, so here's what to do should you decide to give them a clean :
  • Remove your empty clearomiser from the battery and pull it to pieces : remove the base and coil unit and then separate the base from the coil
  • Get a small bowl or coffee cup and hot water [doesn't need to be boiling hot] and give all components a bath. I would suggest you add the body and base first and then chuck the coil in after you've removed them [the coil will have the most liquid residue]
  • You can either dry the components with paper towels, tissues or whatever or leave them to 'air dry'
  • Screw the coil back in to the base, re-fill and off you go again, ready to vape

H5 clearomiser parts breakdown
The H2 clearomisers have a tiny, itsy bitsy wick inside the coil, under the silicone cap, which absorbs the liquid to regulate the flow to the heating plate. Over time and with normal use, the coil will become clogged or fail and will need to be replaced.

Cleaning the coil as described above may further extend the lifespan.  My MOD guru tells me that a lower ohm coil is the best choice, lasting longer, putting out heaps of vapor and giving funky flavour variations.

When the coil does fail, it's a simple matter of turning the clearomiser upside down and removing the base plate and coil unit. Unscrew the coil from the base plate and screw a new coil in place.  Make sure it's secure then screw the base plate back onto the clearomiser body and you're back in business.

The ProTank 2

Being a fully re-buildable clearomiser, the ProTank 2 is probably the easiest to clean thoroughly; you can pull it completely to bits.

Again, the steps for cleaning are the same as with all other clearomisers :
  • Pull the ProTank to bits - start at either end, it makes no difference but remember that when you remove the metal base ring or the drip tip connector ring, the glass tank will fall out as well [it's held in place by the silicone O rings, the drip tip connector ring and metal base ring when they're screwed together]. And keep an eye on the silicone O rings - if you lose them, the tank won't seal properly and may leak
  • Give the components a bath in hot water [yep, doesn't need to be boiling] and again, I'd suggest that you do the coil last, in another cup or in the same bowl/cup using fresh water
  • Dry everything off with paper towels, tissues or whatever or stick with 'air drying' if that's your preference.
  • Put it back together ensuring the silicone O rings are seated properly at the top and bottom of the glass tank and that the drip tip connector ring and metal base ring are screwed together securely.  Don't go all incredible hulk on it as you may damage the silicone O rings or the threads
  • Re-fill and replace the threaded base, connect to your battery and it's good to go

It looks really sexy when you give it a polish with a soft cloth . . . hmmm  . . . shiny . . . hhhhmmmmmmm . . .

Using and Storing Liquids

DeKang e-liquids from E-CigaretteInternational.com
*    Do not drink liquids.  Liquids are meant for use in vapourising devices only
*    Use liquids only as directed, and only with an e-cig
*    Keep liquids in a safe place, out of reach of children and pets
*    Do not store in a hot place or in direct sun light
*    Do not store in an overly cold place and prevent freezing (the fridge is OK, but not the freezer)
*   Incorrect storage may cause liquids to spoil or lose their flavour and in some cases, they can ferment
*    If you do get any excess e-liquid on your lips or hands, wipe the area immediately and wash with soap and water
*    Always wash your hands after refilling your e-cig or handling liquids.  Another option is to use disposable gloves when ever you handle liquids
*    If you experience any unusual side effects when using liquids, discontinue use immediately and seek advice from a health professional

Please note : PG is typically harmless for humans, but dogs and cats (especially cats) are sensitive to propylene glycol and can get really sick from inhaling or ingesting PG.  So if you have critters [or fur babies], make sure you don’t blow vapour at their fuzzy little faces.  Vape in an open area of the house with the door open so you don’t affect your furry mates.

WARNING :
Liquid products and accessories are only intended for use by committed smokers of legal smoking age and not by non-smokers, children, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant or any person with an elevated risk of, or pre-existing condition of, any medical condition which includes, but is not limited to, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or asthma.  If you experience any side effects, possible side effects or feel you may be experiencing side effects, you must stop using the product immediately and seek advice from a Professional Health Practitioner.

Liquids may be poisonous if orally ingested and are intended for use in vaping ONLY.  Our products are not smoking cessation products, are not advertised as smoking cessation products and have not been tested or guaranteed as such.  Our liquids are not intended to treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition.
