To match the huge OBS VTank, you need some serious coils and they don't get much more serious than these. There's a range of coils to choose from, [V4, V8, V10 and V12] each clearly marked with their power range capabilities and a 'best' power range to achieve the ultimate vape, without all the guess work. The power range over all of the coils is 70W - 230W, so you need a machine with serious power to drive them effectively.

The V4 coil has 4 individual coils, arranged vertically : it's the one with the shaped body and the huge hole in the centre of the coil.
The V8 coil has 8 individuals coils, arranged vertically in pairs : it's the one with 4 holes in the top of the coil.
The newest V10 coil has 5 individual coils, arranged vertically in pairs : you can see 5 holes at the top of the coil.
The V12 coil has 12 individual coils, arranged vertically in pairs : it's the one with 6 holes in the top of the coil.
All coils are 0.15 Ohm with double round Kanthal wire and stuffed full of organic cotton which serves to hold the liquid and stop it from leaking out everywhere.
You're looking at around one month of vaping out of each coil, depending on how much use it gets and what type of liquid you're vaping [darker liquids generally need more power to vaporise and may shorten the lifespan of a coil]. You'll know when you need to replace the coil either by the really nasty burnt taste of your liquid or the machine will just flash at you and won't work. If you're running the tank on a MOD with a screen, it will most likely show a message like "Check Atom","Wiring Short" or something with similar wording.
Whenever you fit a new coil to your tank, make sure you prime it before you fill the tank. With the amount of organic cotton in these particular coils, if you don't prime it, you'll see a definite drop in the liquid level as the organic cotton absorbs the liquid you filled the tank with and you'll need to top the tank up before you can start vaping [most likely]. Because of the gigantic juice holes and the amount of organic cotton in the coil, you can put a few more than one or two drops into the juice holes when priming. I'd aim for wetting all of the organic cotton you can see in the juice holes . . . but don't get carried away and drown it.
Once you have primed the coil, screw it tightly into the base and assemble the tank. Fill her up and let her sit for around 5 minutes or so, or until you don't see any more bubbles coming out of the juice holes [they're quite big bubbles so they're easy to spot].
Unlike the JOMO Tech coils, there's no indication that you can give these coils a bath, but it doesn't indicate that you shouldn't either. If you do decide to give a coil a bath, use hot, not boiling water to soak it in and you must be sure that it's totally dry before you use it again [the organic cotton I mean]. If it's not, you'll end up vaping steam which won't kill you or anything like that, it's just an uncomfortable feeling . . . it's kinda like trying to breathe hot soup . . . unpleasant.
And if you do test the theory on bathing these coils, please let me know the result and if it does extend the lifespan of the coil in any significant way.
There's only one more thing you need to know about the OBS OCC Coils . . . they can be a little thristy. The tank comes fitted with the V12 coil, so you'll probably want to replace that with the V4 right from the start. Admittedly, the vapor production of the V12 coil at 100W is extremely impressive, running the V4 coil in it's best power range, won't be very far off what the V12 puts out.
And some of that vapor production will be down to the machine you've got the tank on too.
But you won't care if she drinks a bottle a day once you see what she can do . . . extremely impressive is a bit of an understatement really . . .
Available as a single piece or in a tube pack of 3 pieces.

IMPORTANT STUFF THAT YOU NEED TO REMEMBER ABOUT OBS OCC COILS :
- NEVER dry fire the coil : you'll fry it instantly. There's a lot of organic cotton surrounding the coil wires and if you hit the fire button when there's no liquid in the tank, the coil wires will heat anyway and flash burn the organic cotton. And it's that nasty electrical burn smell that hangs around for ages after the fact.
- NEVER let the liquid level fall below half way up the coil body. It's different in the case of the OBS coils because they have such large juice holes and hold so much liquid in the organic cotton that you can afford to let the liquid level drop past the top of the juice holes a little. Keep in mind that if you do let the liquid level go down too far, the top part of the coil may have started to dry out which brings us right back to the flash burn situation. Keep the tank topped, up but if you do happen to run low, have a look at the organic cotton that you can see through the juice holes. If it's a significantly lighter colour than the remaining organic cotton still immersed in liquid, and if it looks a bit dry, refill the tank before you vape again.
- ALWAYS prime a new coil before you fill the tank. Again, because the juice holes in these coils are so enormous, you really need to prime the coil and you don't really need to worry about restricting the number of drops you put into the organic cotton to one or two . . . these holes are big enough for you to add five or six drops [or whatever it takes to wet all the organic cotton you can see through the juice hole]. Don't go over board and pour half a bottle into each hole, it'll just start running out everywhere, but you can definitely use more than a couple of drops when priming these coils.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT STUFF YOU NEED TO REMEMBER :
* Never, never, never dry fire these coils. Aside from the revolting dry hit you'll get, the coil will fry instantly and boy, does that smell hang around for ages.
* Never, never, never let the liquid level fall below half way down the coil body. If it drops that far, it's possible that the top of the coil will already have started to dry out. |
You should be able to see if the organic cotton looks dry by looking through the glass and checking the juice holes. If the organic cotton looks dry and is a lighter colour than the rest of the cotton still submerged in liquid, then it's fairly certain that the top part of the coil has begun to dry out. Vaping now would most likely fry the coil. Keep the tank topped up and you avoid the problem entirely.
* Always prime a new coil before you fill the tank.
